UNION CITY BRINGS EMPLOYERS AND JOB SEEKERS TOGETHER FOR JOB FAIR

(UNION CITY)- Whether hoping to find a fresh start, a better job, or a new career direction, job seekers will find a wealth of exciting opportunities at Union City’s complimentary community job fair. A variety of employers from both the public and private sectors will be eager to hire for immediate openings in a wide range of fields. The City of Union City is hosting the fair on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Etris Community Center located at Ronald Bridges Park (5285 Lakeside Drive, Union City, GA 30291). Candidates of working age are invited to attend the event which is open to the public.
Participants will be able to:

  • Meet with local employers
  • Submit applications and/or resumes
  • Ask questions about the positions and required skills

Employers include, but are not limited to:

  • Infinity Dealership
  • Volkswagen
  • Staff Mark
  • DSC Logistics
  • Walmart E-Commerce
  • Georgia Commute
  • Georgia Department of Labor

“Events like these connect our community’s talented workers with employers looking to hire right now. This job fair supports the City Council’s mission of ensuring that each member of our community has an equal chance to access employment opportunities” said Mayor Vince Williams. He added, “A city’s economic development efforts often look at ‘big picture’ effects – how a community as a whole benefits from projects – but it is also important for individual citizens to feel the personal impacts of improving our local economy. If even a handful of our citizens find jobs through this first job fair, we can consider the effort a success.”

During the Job Fair, employers will be able to scout future employees, market their brand/name, and spread the word about their opportunities. The event will create a conduit between businesses that need employees and the jobseekers looking for career opportunities in the Union City area. Adults looking for a new job, a better job, or even a new career will have the opportunity to meet with multiple participating companies, many of which offer on-the-job training or paid training.

“We have companies here and nearby that have excellent jobs and great benefits, but they struggle to get the word out about what they have to offer,” said Sonja Fillingame, City Manager. “The job fair is a great opportunity to showcase Union City as an attractive community to do business. We have a great workforce, excellent quality of life, and a friendly and supportive community.
