Job Description- Member Development Manager 

The ATL Airport Chamber, Inc., formerly known as the Airport Area Chamber of Commerce, is seeking a Member Development Manager (MDM).  The Member Development Manager will focus in the airport region business community with an emphasis on the Airport and the cities within Clayton and South Fulton counties located within the Atlanta Aerotropolis.

The Member Development Manager will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of relationship-building across a range of industries, products, and services of the airport region.  The Member Development Manager is responsible for the recruitment of new members to increase membership growth, retention of existing members, assisting in securing sponsorships, and financial support for the ATL Airport Chamber. The Member Development Manager will work closely with the President and Chair of the Marketing Committee in preparing and presenting credentials, pitches, and project proposals.  The Member Development Manager will play a vital role in the airport region business community, supporting all brand initiatives and speaking in front of large groups of members and prospects on behalf of the ATL Airport Chamber.

The role requires a self-starter, and an excellent team player who works well with minimum supervision and is capable of devising and executing business development plans, presentations, pitch work, and is responsible for the conversion of prospects into long-term valuable partners.  In addition to a passion for the industry, commercial savvy, market knowledge, good networks, and a mindset that displays intrinsic motivation towards personal and business growth are essential in this vital role.

Responsibilities:

  • Devise and execute business development and marketing plans
  • Develop tier-level business constituency membership program
  • Maintain accurate statistics and data on ROI marketing programs to include In-Kind Investors
  • Target high potential investors, making presentations and developing materials to reach this membership group
  • Responsible for membership recruitment, retention of existing members
  • Develop presentations and pitch work
  • Responsible for the conversion of prospects into valuable long-term investors, partners, and members
  • Collaborate with Marketing Committee to determine yearly marketing goals
  • Negotiate with media partners to guarantee positive coverage of events
  • Identify customer trends and adjust marketing plans
  • Preparing and presenting new business presentations
  • Participate in the creative development process
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with key members and stakeholders
  • Assess ATL Airport Chamber’s current marketing materials and strategy
  • Work with the President and Marketing Committee to draw up a new plan and budget for next year
  • Reach and build rapport with decision-makers and CEOs to make high-volume sales calls
  • Prepare weekly reports to the President and Chair of Marketing
  • Identify and sell sponsorship to current members who would be interested in ATL Airport Chamber events further to brand their company’s position within the airport region
  • Welcome and assimilate new members during monthly New Member Virtual Orientation
  • Contribute to cross-selling sponsorships and services to improve retention

Accountabilities

  • The position reports to the President and CEO and works with a dotted line to the Board Chair and Chair of the Marketing Committee. The President is responsible for evaluations, discipline or rewards, and reporting information to the Board of Directors.

Board Support and Liaison

  • Serves as the President’s liaison to the Board of Directors regarding reports for the monthly board meeting that highlight membership trends, sponsorships, and forecasting
  • Compiles assembles and distributes all reports to the President for review before board presentation
  • Maintains and produces reports from Salesforce database

Secondary Liaison

  • Reviews tier-level business constituency membership program with Marketing Committee
  • Collaborates with the Marketing Committee to determine yearly marketing goals
  • Work with Marketing and Finance Committees to draw up a new plan and budget for next year
  • Assess ATL Airport Chamber’s current marketing materials and strategy

Education, Experience, and Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Finance is preferred or related experience; Project Management Certification is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy, collaborative working relationships with others.
  • Strong digital knowledge and more substantial digital curiosity; eagerness to identify and employ new digital, social media marketing, and promotion tools
  • Intermediate skill level using but not limited to Microsoft Suite, Salesforce, Director’s Desk, and other communication modalities such as virtual meetings and social media
  • The capability of devising and implementing revenue-generating ideas
  • Intelligent, ambitious and a highly motivated team player, with a commitment to quality and professionalism
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Well-spoken and well-presented; able to deliver credentials presentations and to communicate creative presentations, succinctly, and with passion
  • Flexible and willing to work in a thriving, growing, and ever-changing environment
  • Creative in approach to new business and willing to try new things

Salary and Benefits

  • Employment will be with the ATL Airport Chamber as a full-time independent contractor
  • Commission salary with a rate that is commensurate with qualifications and experience, not to exceed 25 percent
