2019 Weekly Legislative Report

Joint Budget Hearing Week

During this recess week, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees held joint hearings.  Each Statewide Office, Supreme Court, and State Departments presented their proposed budgets this Tuesday, January 22nd and concluded Wednesday, January 23rd with Governor Brian Kemp.  His presentation focused on gang violence, teacher pay raises, and rural health disparities.  A link to the proposed 2019 – 2020 budget is here.

The House and Senate reconvene on Monday, January 28th at 10 a.m. for Legislative day 5.

With a three-day schedule for next week, we expect the pace of legislation to pick up considerably.  The current schedule anticipates legislative days on Monday through Wednesday.  You can access the full schedule here.
